How Grapefruit and Pineapple Help Digestion
-
They contain fiber which we know is vital for gut health. Our good microbes flourish with a fiber-rich diet!
-
Pineapple contains bromelain which is an enzyme that can be help break down foods. This is especially important if you have low stomach acid.
-
Grapefruit can increase the acidity in your stomach leading to improved digestion and breaking down of food. Many of us are low in hydrochloric acid. If you’ve noticed fullness, belching and bloating after you eat, you may be low in this powerful “digestive juice” secreted in your stomach.

I’ve been having issues with my digestion. I was told to drink lemon juice with all my meals but something about lemon juice makes my throat itch and I cough. Is this recipe (minus lemon) something that I could drink with every meal? How long would it keep? Just wondering how this would be incorporated into my meal prep for the week.
I would drink it prior to each meal (about 15 minutes prior) so the digestive enzymes have time to settle in. Have you tried apple cider vinegar before meals as well (in a glass of water)?
Soooooo gooood!!!! I could drink this every morning. Takes a bit of work but we’ll worth it.
